Women in Black held their weekly vigil for peace at Vance Monument at 5pm May 10, preceding the 28-hour vigil for clean air organized by the Canary Coalition.

Asheville citizens promoting peace and a clean environment had a full plate this weekend. At the “Voices for Peace” event in City-County Plaza on May 10, Lena Feldmann sang “Last Night I Had the Strangest Dream.” She held a white rose to symbolize resistance to fascism. Michelle Kelly said an asthma attack the day before had strenghtened her determination to protest.

Mothers and Families for Peace rallied at UNC- Asheville on May 11, where people performed “Dances of Universal Peace.”
