Law enforcement ignoring AGR, progressive community Local coverage of peace rallies disappointing Inmate appreciates subscription donation Editors, Asheville Global Report, Please be advised I started receiving the Global Report.
I now have the last two issues, thank you so much for answering my request
and sponsoring me. Mikail Abdullah Local coverage of peace rallies disappointing Editors, Asheville Global Report, This morning (Feb. 18), the headline news of the Hendersonville
Times-News was "March 1 rally to show support for troops."
I support these men and women in following their conscience and doing
what they need to do to avoid killing innocent people even if it means
becoming a conscientious objector. I am sorry that most people join
the military for economic reasons and I hope that many of these military
personnel educate themselves as to what drives war and why so many people
have been killed to support the profits of others. Howard Zinn is a
good author to read for this information. The world is too small. War
needs to become obsolete. Besides killing people, war sucks for the
environment from the production of weapons to bombardment. Oak Ridge,
Tennessee is contaminated from the manufacturing of nuclear weapons.
And now Afghanistan is contaminated with depleted uranium radioactivity
and land mines. Lisa Thurman AGR, progressive community Editors, Asheville Global Report, Just when I was about to give up on the current conditions in the world, I discovered your publication on a cold Sunday morning at a local coffee shop (Fidos) in Nashville. You have no idea how much it has meant to me to be able to view such a broad range of information in one grouping. I am going to mail copies of your paper to some friends of mine in other parts of the country in hopes of spreading the truth. Your publication was the impetus for my trip to Washington in January to protest the possible war with Iraq. To my knowledge, there is no similar paper in Nashville. I have visited your city twice and was most impressed with the progressive nature of many of the residents. In truth, I was shocked. I hope you will continue to push your message to other parts of the country. I am an example of the difference you can make. William Cobb Law enforcement ignoring Editors, Asheville Global Report, I find it an outrage that during a terrorism alert, the most important terrorism target in Western North Carolina was in fact hit and damaged early on Feb. 13. It is an act of shocking negligence that, with millions of dollars and massive new powers, police forces still waste time at the airport or courthouse and are unwilling to protect the Femcare clinic from the ONLY proven, local, and repeated terrorist activity in the region. This shows the police for what they are, a useless waste of resources, and that it is entirely up to us citizens to protect ourselves and our most vital institutions. Alan Ditmore |
