Dean an asset for peace

Editors, Asheville Global Report,

Sean Donahue’s piece “Howard Dean: A Hawk in a Dove’s Cloak” in Nov. 6th’s AGR was wrong. Dean’s electibiltity is an asset in the struggle for peace. Dean is indeed a centrist, but to equate his foreign policy plans with those of Bush is ridiculous. Dean respects the UN and would adhere to its guidelines. He is committed to ending the war (and occupation) in Iraq. Most important, Dean does not see war as an economic imperative, and he is not beholden to corporations that do. The scary thing about Dean’s foreign policy is not his advisors, it is his lack of experience: we have very little to judge him on. Donahue was digging pretty hard and didn’t come up with much.

Whichever candidate gets the nomination, all liberals will have to work hard and tirelessly to get that person elected. I will be working for Howard Dean, whose domestic policies have shown consistent humanity, but who is just slick enough to get elected. We MUST WIN in 2004.

Dean may not be perfect, but he’s pretty good. He is not Bush. Not even close.
