Does Col. Sanders have his head up his ass?

Editors, Asheville Global Report,

I’m writing to inform readers of a new game available at www.KFCCruelty.com. Players are asked to guess how Colonel Sanders would respond to a series of questions about chickens. Depending on whether he’s still in the dark or he’s seen the light about the humane treatment of animals, the Colonel either sticks his head up his own butt or pulls it out for the next question.

KFC suppliers often boil chickens alive and slit the throats of chickens while fully conscious. Chickens are pumped full of massive doses of antibiotics just to keep them alive through conditions that would otherwise kill them. PETA has recommended improvements that will eliminate some of the most horrific abuses. Simple things, like replacing cruel and ineffective electric stunning and throat slitting with gas killing, and breeding less aggressive birds. KFC’s own animal welfare advisors all agree with PETA’s recommended improvements which are based on the latest scientific research.

Yet KFC refuses to follow the advice of its own animal welfare advisors, and instead does all it can to obfuscate the truth.

Lead singer and guitarist John Feldmann of Goldfinger is protesting at KFC restaurants around the country wherever he performs. Paul McCartney, Russell Simons, NAACP President Kweisi Mfume, Chrissie Hynde and Dick Gregory are but a few of the folks who have raised their voices against KFC. My spouse Terri and I have participated in seven demos in the last 8 months. Terri can often be seen outside of a KFC restaurant wearing a chicken costume and holding a “KFC Tortures Chickens” sign. Please raise your voice too. Campaign materials are available at www.KFCCruelty.com. If protesting is not your style, find your own creative way to let the folks at KFC know that until they take steps to eliminate the worst cruelties inflicted upon the 700 million chickens they serve every year, they’ll be hearing from you.
